Veterinarian Services, Vets & Animal/ Pet Clinics or Hospitals in Shanghai

SCAA’s Partnership with PAW

Professional care by well-educated and properly trained veterinarians is a cornerstone of SCAA’s animal-rescue and re-homing work.  SCAA provides Western-standard veterinary care to all our animals and adoptive parents are required to continue doing so.

SCAA is grateful for the support of our vet partner - Pets are Wonderful Veterinary Clinic (PAW).  Dr. James Holder, BVSc. MRCVS, and Dr. Uta Westerhues D.V.M., provide the highest standard medical care for all SCAA foster animals.  PAW generously provides SCAA with a discounted consultation and sterilization fees for each foster cat or dog.   Both Dr. Holder and Dr. Westerhues are SCAA advisers and Dr. Holder publishes articles and answers pet-care questions on our website.  He also speaks on relevant issues at SCAA monthly meetings.  SCAA highly recommends PAW veterinary and boarding services to our members and adoptive parents.

Few Western-Standard Veterinarian Services in Shanghai

SCAA’s Adoption and Sterilization Agreement doc stipulates that all SCAA animals must continue to receive Western-standard vet care.

Western-standard vet care means care provided by a properly trained veterinarian with a Western University veterinary science degree.  At a minimum, the vet caring for your adopted animal should have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc.) or equivalent Western degree.

Local vet training and licensing standards are inadequate.  Veterinary technician / assistant training also does not meet Western vet care standards.

SCAA adopters and Shanghai pet owners can feel confident choosing SCAA’s vet partner, PAW.  In addition, many SCAA members take their adopted pets to these additional veterinary resources.
